Summary: CuraDebt Customer Reviews

CuraDebt Financial Services is a debt relief consultation service that helps individuals and small businesses who need help with their unsecured debt or IRS tax debt. “Unsecured debt” refers to debt that is not tied to property; thus, while CuraDebt could provide a plan to relieve your debt from credit card bills or personal loans, it cannot assist with debt accumulated from, say, mortgage loans.

CuraDebt fees are calculated during your free debt analysis. They depend on a number of factors but are typically around 20-21% of the total debt amount enrolled.

Though you can find many CuraDebt reviews online, we at AdvisoryHQ provide this exhaustive CuraDebt review of functionality, history, values, services, and customer reviews so you can make an informed decision about choosing CuraDebt as your debt relief consultant.

How it Works

CuraDebt provides free, no obligation debt relief consultation to those looking to get out of a variety of debts. Since there is no property for creditors to re-possess against unsecured loans, these debts allow for the highest possibility of reductions on balances.

CuraDebt consultants can assist clients with the following types of unsecured debt:

  • Credit cards
  • Personal loans and lines of credit
  • Medical bills
  • Collections and repossessions
  • Business debts
  • Certain secured debts*
  • IRS debt and back taxes

There are also secured debts—debts linked to property. CuraDebt cannot provide assistance with the following types of secured debt, with the exception of certain special cases for lawsuits involving private student loans:

  • Lawsuits
  • Utility bills
  • Auto, student, or government loans
  • Mortgage or home loans
  • Other secured debts

CuraDebt Fees

The website does not go into explicit detail in terms of payment. However, it does state that CuraDebt fees are calculated as part of clients’ monthly repayment and, on average, clients pay 20% of the total debt amount enrolled back to CuraDebt. Therefore, payment changes on a per-client basis.

Factors that determine a client’s debt relief program cost include:

  • Creditors owed
  • Credit balances
  • Ability to contribute monthly escrow payments into the program
  • Amount that can be negotiated from your balance
  • Negotiation turnaround time
  • Fee charges

There is no upfront fee for CuraDebt’s services. If you do not qualify for CuraDebt’s debt relief services, the firm can refer you to another agency that can help.

About CuraDebt

CuraDebt claims to have over 14 years of reducing client debts, giving them more experience than most other firms in the industry. Though there is no formal mission statement, the tone of CuraDebt’s website content shows that the company does not focus on blaming the client. They are clearly empathetic when it comes to finding oneself in debt. The goal of the debt relief program is to “help save you as much money as possible, as fast as possible.”

CuraDebt makes public many of their settlement letters (with private information blacked out) to illustrate the kinds of agreements they achieve on a regular basis. Letters are organized by year and creditor; if you do not see an example of an agreement reached with the creditor you owe, you can contact your CuraDebt counselor and request one.

CuraDebt lists their awards and credentials under the “About Us” tab on their website. They have been ranked as the Top 2 Best Debt Relief Companies by “Top Consumer Reviews” for over 6 years. The is a proud achievement, as this rating is higher than any other company has received in this industry. This is just one of the many awards and credentials CuraDebt has received. They are also a member of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce.

However, we should note the lack of transparency on their website. While there is contact information for an office headquartered in Florida, there is no concrete information provided about staff or the credentials of the CuraDebt agents. Likewise, there is quite a bit of repeated information, making it appear that CuraDebt offers more services than it actually does.

CuraDebt Services

Debt Relief

CuraDebt describes its debt relief program as “resolving your debt without taking out a new loan.” They offer various programs based on your unique financial situation, such as consolidation, payment strategy, or settlement.

This program works by setting up a dedicated account in which money will accumulate from your monthly payments. You may also pay a lump sum amount to accelerate the program. CuraDebt agents negotiate the best possible reductions for your debt based on the amount of money accumulated. CuraDebt negotiates and resolves each of your accounts until they are all settled.

Tax Debt Relief

The company states that the CuraDebt Tax Alliance fully complies with the IRS to best resolve your tax troubles. They promise a 30-day window for presenting all of your options after reviewing your or your company’s tax debt situation.

CuraDebt lists a 3-step program for resolving tax issues:

1. Investigation and financial analysis: the tax professional requests an immediate stay of enforcement from with the IRS or State. Then, they perform a financial analysis to come up with and recommend the best resolution plan.

2. Compliance: if needed, compliance is achieved by filing your missing taxes or correcting mistakes.

3. Implementation: the resolution that’s been recommended is implemented to fully resolve the issue.

It should be noted that the website does not list any specific credentials for the noted “tax professional.”

CuraDebt Reviews and Feedback

Shopper Approved offers more positive CuraDebt customer reviews. It gives a 4.9 out of 5 stars overall based on 96 customer reviews. Many of these reviews mention specific debt counselors by name, providing an alternative view of the company to Best Debt Companies’ claim that CuraDebt may be an off-shore, one-man operation. One review, for example, reads, “Zac is personable and easy to deal with. The requested information was delivered in a precise, easy to understand style that left me with few questions.”

Customer Lobby gives CuraDebt five stars out of five based on 651 CuraDebt reviews. Many reviewers make note of the company’s “great service,” and many also make mention of the quality of one-on-one attention they received from their CuraDebt counselor. One customer wrote, “After a brief conversation, Gloria was able to come up with a solution that not only would settle my debt in a relatively short period of time that was also within my budget. She was very responsive and understanding of my situation.”

Is CuraDebt Right for You?

The minimum debt allowance for CuraDebt’s debt relief services is $5,000. If you have at least $5,000 in debt accrued from unsecured loans and live in a state where CuraDebt can legally assist you with their relief programs, the positive CuraDebt reviews on the web hint that CuraDebt may be the right choice for you.

However, though their customer reviews seem to heavily lean to the positive side, the lack of transparency in regards to company personnel and operations does provide some cause for concern.
