Employees Credit Union Review

Chartered by the State of Texas, Employees Credit Union is guided by the Credit Union Department of the State. ECU was founded in Texarkana in 1952 to serve the needs of the employees and families of the East Texas Motor Freight System.

Today, ECU has grown to include employees of about 160 groups, as well as any person who lives, works, or attends school within ten miles of one of the Dallas locations of this credit union.

This full-service financial co-op offers the perks of a larger financial institution as well as the benefits of a credit union. Services range from lending to deposit accounts and online banking.

Employees Credit Union Review: Visa Debit Card

When you open an account at ECU, you can take advantage of the Visa Check Card, which can be used at more than 28 million global locations. Purchases are deducted from checking accounts with no interest, and you receive a monthly statement detailing your transactions. You can also view your checking account activity by logging in to online banking.

This debit card includes Visa’s signature Zero Liability protection, so that if your card is used fraudulently or for unauthorized transactions, you’re protected.

Employees Credit Union Review: Direct Debit Loan Payments

If members of ECU have a loan, this Dallas credit union simplifies how that can be paid back by allowing loan holders to sign an ACH agreement. This then means their account at another institution is automatically debited for loan repayment.

There are only a few steps to get started, including printing out the ACH Agreement, signing it, sending a copy of a voided check to a loan office, and sending contact information.

This means loan holders don’t have to worry about forgetting to make a payment or the fees and penalties that can come with a late fee.
