Introduction: Chase Sapphire Preferred® Card vs Amex Everyday® Credit Card vs Capital One QuicksilverOne vs Chase Freedom Unlimited℠ Credit Card

Finding a quality credit card that doesn’t come with a host of hidden, high penalty fees can be a challenge in today’s world. Even though the credit card industry is growing by leaps and bounds, many people still find themselves stuck in high interest cards with no rewards programs.

The Chase Sapphire Preferred® rewards card, the Amex Everyday® card, the Capital One QuicksilverOne cash rewards credit card and the Chase Freedom Unlimited℠ credit card are three of the top overall cards on the market today.

Many people who are on the lookout for the best overall credit card only take into account certain terms and conditions of those cards. A low APR and a high annual fee, however, often cancel each other out.

The Chase Sapphire credit card, Amex Everyday® card, Chase Freedom Unlimited℠ credit card, and QuicksilverOne from Capital One are four examples of complete cards that offer quality terms and conditions across the board.

In this brief article, AdvisoryHQ will offer a complete Chase Sapphire Preferred® credit card, Capital One Quicksilver card, Chase Freedom Unlimited℠ credit card and Amex Everyday card review. Why You Should Consider Signing Up for a  Chase Sapphire Preferred® Card, an Amex Everyday® Credit Card, a Capital One QuicksilverOne Card, or a Chase Freedom Unlimited℠ Credit Card

With so many different credit card issuing companies out there all offering the supposed best deals on the market, how can you know which card is the best for you?

One of the most important things to look for in the top credit cards is the trusted name of companies that have a long history of working in the industry.

The Amex Everyday card, for example, is offered by the American Express Corporation, which accounts for around 24% of the total dollar volume of credit card transactions in the U.S.

It is also important to find cards offered by issuing companies that come with clear and transparent terms, conditions, and rates.

Whereas some companies may publicize a low purchase APR, the balance transfer rate to sign up for that card may be astronomical. The Capital One QuicksilverOne cash rewards credit card, for example, clearly shows on their webpage that the regular purchase APR and balance transfer APR are the same at 23.24% to help you avoid any confusion.

Furthermore, when it comes to finding a great credit card with rewards programs, it is important that the programs allow you to easily track your spending and your potential rewards points.

One Amex Everyday card review states that the Amex Everyday® credit card comes with “smart-chip technology and the ability to track your purchases on the AmEx Mobile app. That way, you’ll know when you’re getting close to the 20 or 30 transactions you’ll need to get your points bonus.”

Similarly, the Chase Sapphire Preferred Rewards card allows you to earn double points on all purchases for travel and restaurants. It’s important that you understand which card offers the best rewards programs for the purchases you are most likely to make with the card you choose. If, for example, you rarely travel or eat out, the Chase Sapphire Preferred® Credit Card is probably not the best option for you.

Intro APR Offers

Switching credit cards isn’t always easy, especially if you have a large balance on a previous card. Paying off two different credit card balances each month can quickly lead to an unsustainable debt burden.

However, many credit card companies charge high balance transfer fees, which essentially oblige you to maintain separate card balances.

The Capital One® QuicksilverOne® cash rewards credit card, the Amex Everyday® card and the Chase Freedom Unlimited℠ credit card all offer decent introductory APR offers for both purchase and balance transfers.

The QuicksilverOne From Capital One offers a 0% intro APR on purchases and balance transfers for 9 months, while the Amex Everyday® credit card comes with a 0% intro offer for 12 months. While the Chase Sapphire Preferred® Credit Card comes with no intro APR offer, the Chase Freedom Unlimited℠ credit card does offer a 0% intro offer for 15 months on purchases. The intro offer for balance transfers to this card, however, jumps to 14% for the first 15 months.

Regular APR

Another important factor to consider when choosing a credit card is the regular APR. Introductory APR rates are great, but they will eventually expire and you will want to find a card whose regular APR won’t kill you in interest payments, especially if you tend to carry a monthly balance on your card.

The Chase Sapphire Preferred® Card, Amex Everyday® Credit Card, Capital One® QuicksilverOne®, and the Chase Freedom Unlimited℠ Credit Card all offer comparable variable APR rates with only slight differences. The Amex Everyday® Credit Card comes with a variable rate of 13.24% to 23.24%, while the Chase Sapphire Preferred® Credit Card is slightly higher at 16.24% to 23.24%.

While the Capital One® Quicksilver® card does have a higher fixed rate at 23.24%, it may be the best card for people looking for ways to quickly improve their credit score. According to their website, the QuicksilverOne from Capital One allows you to “get access to a higher credit line with Credit Steps after making your first 5 monthly payments on time.”

Credit Card Fees

Some of the most expensive credit cards may advertise a low annual percentage rate but not fully disclose the numerous fees associated with owning that card.

If you don’t research the complete terms and conditions of any card, you may find yourself paying a high annual fee, an astronomical cash advance fee, ATM fees, foreign transaction fees, and late payment fees, among others. The money you “save” from a lower interest rate quickly disappears due to fees that add up.

The Chase Freedom Unlimited℠ credit card and the Amex Everyday® card both come with no annual fee, while the Capital One® Quicksilver® card has a $39 annual fee. The Chase Sapphire Preferred® Card has the highest annual fee at $95.  However, the rewards program that we will review below on the Chase Sapphire credit card are some of the best on the market, which may validate the high annual fee.

Furthermore, while the Chase Sapphire credit card has an annual fee that is higher than the other cards we are reviewing here, it is the only card that has no foreign transaction fee. For people who plan to travel frequently overseas, the Chase Sapphire credit card is one of the best options to avoid excessive fees.

Rewards

Everyone loves receiving cash back rewards for using their credit cards. The Chase Sapphire Preferred® Card, Amex Everyday® Credit Card, Capital One® QuicksilverOne®, and Chase Freedom Unlimited℠ Credit Card all offer some of the best rewards programs on the market.

One Amex Everyday® card review states that:

“The Amex EveryDay® Credit Card from American Express is a great card for accumulating rewards on everyday purchases. Cardholders can get 2x points at U.S. supermarkets on up to $6,000 per year in purchases (then 1x), along with a one-time bonus of 10,000 points after spending $1,000 on eligible purchases in the first three months of membership.”

Similarly, the Capital One QuicksilverOne offers a great credit card rewards program where you can earn 1.5% rewards every day on every purchase. Whereas other top cards will limit the amount of rewards you can earn each month or year or only offer you special rewards on certain types of purchases, the Capital One Quicksilver card offers the same rewards for every type of purchase, which is important for people who use their card for a variety of different types of purchases.

The Chase Sapphire credit card offers perhaps the best rewards program and sign-up bonus of the cards reviewed here.  The rewards programs offered by the Chase Sapphire credit card offsets the high annual fee, especially for people who use their Chase Sapphire credit card often.

With the Chase Sapphire credit card, you earn 2X points for travel and dining and 1X points for all other purchases. Furthermore, this card comes with Chase Ultimate Rewards, which allows you to earn 25% more in travel redemption. Lastly, the Chase Sapphire credit card has a fantastic sign-up offer that allows you to earn 50,000 bonus points if you spend $4,000 during the first three months after account opening. If redeemed through the Chase Ultimate rewards program, those 50,000 points essentially add up to a $625 travel discount.
