NewChic clothing company was founded in 2015 and is based in Hong Kong. However, it was difficult for our Editorial team to find information on the history of the company on the company’s website other than the company started “with a beautiful vision to make high fashion affordable for everyone.”
Shoppers can find a wide array of products on the site, including cosmetics, shoes, dresses, jackets, purses, kid’s clothing, and even home décor.
Although there are plenty of low-cost options on NewChic.com, how can you tell if NewChic is legit? In the sections below, we’ll examine whether NewChic is legit by looking at the company’s locations, social media presence, and affiliations.
Where is NewChic Located?
In researching the question, “Is NewChic legit” we took a look at where the company is located. Our NewChic.com review found that, although the company lists a London billing address, their operating address is in Hong Kong.
We also found another shipping address for returns listed in Guangdong, China, which is likely the location of their warehouses.
Multiple addresses can certainly be confusing from a shopper’s perspective, but not entirely out of the ordinary for overseas fashion retailers selling globally. As such, having multiple addresses does not mean that the NewChic clothing brand is not legit.
In addition to their main NewChic.com website, they also have an international site at NewChic.in.
Social Media Presence

NewChic & Banggood Confusion
Interestingly, while researching the website domain, our NewChic review found that the company’s administrative emails are connected t0 Banggood.com. Does this mean that NewChic and Banggood are the same company?
A conversation on SaleHoo regarding NewChic’s dropshipping program sheds some light on the situation. A representative from NewChic explains that the two companies are “business partners owned by different bosses but located in the same building.”
In the same thread, NewChic customers express frustration over receiving packages labeled “Banggood”, and confusion over being forwarded to Banggood customer service.
So, it appears there may be some type of overlap between the two retailers. While NewChic is largely focused on trendy fashion, Banggood appears to be more focused on electronics, home goods, and a variety of other non-apparel items.
Both Banggood and NewChic are legitimate companies in the basic sense — they are actual companies with real addresses and real products — but it is confusing and possibly concerning that one company would be shipping for the other without fair warning to the consumer.
For some shoppers, the failure to disclose a connection between the two may decrease the overall legitimacy of NewChic.

Some of this is due to the difference in customer service in the retail culture between countries, and part is due to serious issues with providing an honest representation on the site of the product that a consumer is actually receiving, once they do receive it.
So, what about NewChic? Should you be worried about a NewChic scam?
On the surface, NewChic is not a scam—there are positive reviews from real people who seem to have had genuinely good experiences. While their return policies are not ideal, they are publicly advertised, leaving the consumer to buy at their own risk.
NewChic Clothing Return and Refund Policies
Unfortunately, NewChic’s return and refund policies are not necessarily created with the customer in mind. If a customer returns an item that does not have a manufacturing defect, the customer is responsible for “both the shipping cost we paid and also the shipping fee you pay to return the item back to us”.
Returns need to be made within 14 days after delivery, and they note that if the item is damaged or the size or color doesn’t match what you ordered, you can get a replacement or a full refund.
What happens if you have another reason for a return? The NewChic policy says that “after auditing your order, we will refund according to your situation.”
There are also multiple refund exceptions, such as earrings and swimwear, for which they won’t offer a refund. Additionally, items must be returned unworn, unwashed, and with original tags.
For many consumers, this generates situations that certainly feel like scams, where obtaining a full refund for NewChic clothing is either incredibly difficult or impossible.
NewChic Clothing Quality Complaints
It’s also worth mentioning that many shoppers have issued complaints about product quality, claiming that NewChic clothing is cheap, poorly sized, and in some cases, unwearable.
We’ve also noted a few examples already where NewChic reviewers stated the item they received was not the item represented on the website and not made of the same materials that were advertised.
Although there does not seem to be a NewChic scam going on, that doesn’t mean that you’ll be getting what you expected. Overall, consumers using NewChic.com should not expect to get the same quality of clothes or customer service as they might from a US-based company.

When it comes to shopping on NewChic.com, the old adage rings true: buyer beware. In the case of fast fashion from overseas retailers, lower prices don’t always make a purchase worth it.
Ultimately, NewChic isn’t significantly worse than other websites that sell cut-rate fashions that originate from China and other Asian countries.
A positive for many shoppers is that NewChic seems to warehouse and sell the products themselves, rather than simply being a marketplace to connect buyers with sellers. This gives some shoppers comfort to at least know they’re buying directly from the company.
Although there are certainly some shoppers that are satisfied with the site, many had to experience lost or missing packages before leaving a positive NewChic.com review.
Additionally, our NewChic review found a substantial number of disgruntled customers that raise serious questions about multiple different issues including, clothing quality, shipping, and return policies, and customer service.
This can mean that the extra dollars you save on an item, may not end up being worth it if you have problems and have to pay extra shipping to return an item to China or keep a product that wasn’t what you thought.
