History – How Did Santori & Peters Start?
Santori & Peters was founded by Norman Santori and Maria Peters in 1985.
Since then, the firm has served a small and exclusive group of clients who expect the best independent, objective, and personalized wealth management advice from their advisors.
The firm strives to not only meet those expectations but to exceed them, as it helps its clients accumulate, preserve, and distribute their personal wealth.
Maria E. Peters, CFP, AIF (1932–2014) was a co-founder of Santori & Peters, Inc. She passed away in 2014, after several years of retirement. Born in Hungary during World War II, Maria was educated and grew up in Switzerland.
She immigrated to the United States with her family in 1947 to rejoin her father who was working on his own research project for Westinghouse Research Corporation.
The family settled in Mt. Lebanon, Pennsylvania, where Maria graduated from Mt. Lebanon High School with honors. She then went on to attend Carnegie Mellon University, School of Architecture.

What We Like About Santori & Peters:
1. Santori & Peters is fee-only: A fee-only advisor is one whose sole source of remuneration is the client. A fee-only advisor does not receive commissions or compensation of any sort that is contingent on the purchase or sale of a financial product.
A fee-only advisor is also under a fiduciary duty to his/her clients and must always place a client’s interest first.
2. Santori & Peters thinks ahead: The firm lives by the maxim tempora mutant et nos mutamur in illis, which translates as, “Times change, and we change in them.” This is a (timely) reminder that nothing in life is static. All is ever-changing, and we should always be looking ahead.
3. Santori & Peters primarily invests in mutual funds and exchange-traded funds (ETFs).
Mutual funds and ETFs are professionally managed, collective investment systems that pool money from many investors and invest in stocks, bonds, short-term money market instruments, other mutual funds, other securities or any combination thereof.
The fund will have a manager that trades the fund’s investments in accordance with the fund’s investment objective. Exchange-traded funds differ from mutual funds in that they can be bought and sold throughout the day like stock, and their prices can fluctuate throughout the day.
The returns on mutual funds and ETFs can be reduced by the costs to manage the funds. Some mutual funds are “no load” and charge no fee to buy into or sell out of the fund. Other types of mutual funds do charge such fees which can also reduce returns.
4. Santori & Peters leaves no investment stone unturned. The firm employs a variety of analytical strategies.
It employs charting analysis: looking at price and volume information for a particular security in an attempt to predict future price movements based on price patterns and trends.
It practices fundamental analysis: analyzing individual companies and their industry groups to measure the true value of the company’s stock compared to the current market value.
It uses technical analysis: studying past price patterns and trends in the financial markets to predict the direction of both the overall market and specific stocks.
The firm also purchases securities for different time horizons, from less than a year to many years.
5. Santori & Peters plays it safe: The firm uses Charles Schwab & Co. as a custodian.
As such, its brokerage accounts are under the aegis of the Securities Investor Protection Corporation (SIPC).
The SIPC protects the securities and cash in your brokerage account up to $500,000.
The $500,000 protection includes up to $250,000 protection for cash in your account to buy securities. Charles Schwab & Co. brokerage accounts are also covered by international insurers such as Lloyd’s of London.
